The Orb of Infusion is a relatively common item that allows players to turn a White base item (or Magic Jewelry) into an equivalent Rare item.

The Orb of Shadows is an extremely rare item that allows players to force an item to be Ethereal.
The item must have durability, and cannot already be Indestructible.
Bows, Crossbows and certain swords cannot be made ethereal as they have no durability.
An Orb of Shadows only drops from Unique and Super Unique monsters in Hell Terror Zones.
To use an Orb of Shadows, transmute it with an item in the Horadric Cube.
The Orb of Socketing is a useful tool that allows players to add a random number of sockets to an item.
Each item has a max number of sockets, depending on its level.
Check online sources before attempting to transmute.
To use an Orb of Socketing, transmute it with an item in the Horadric Cube. You can reroll existing sockets this way.
Orbs replace essence drops from Act bosses and Key Wardens in Nightmare and Hell.
You can also find them from Champion, Unique and Super Unique monsters in Nightmare and Hell Terror Zones.
The Orb of Corruption is a risk/reward item that allows players to potentially add an additional property to an item.
However, there are non-beneficial outcomes as well, so use wisely!
Transmute an Orb of Corruption with a weapon, armor, or shield in the Horadric Cube.
You must press the transmute button twice to properly apply the corruption.
Once an item has been corrupted you cannot corrupt it again.

There is a 55% chance a corruption is successful, adding a beneficial property to an item.
There is a 45% chance a corruption fails. A failure can be broken down into three outcomes:
DO NOT CORRUPT RUNEWORDS - Corrupt the base item first, and then craft your Runeword.
When corrupting set items you must remove all other items from that set from your character first.
Put related set items in shared stash. Save and Exit the game, join a new game, and then corrupt your intended set item.
Failing to do so will apply the corruption to the set bonus and will only be effective when set bonuses are active.
